GovernmentCIO is looking for an organized thought leader to supervise a team of highly skilled, passionate professionals as a Deputy Program Manager providing essential government services and transforming government IT within the Department of Veteran Affairs Agile Center of Excellence.


We are seeking individuals committed to delivering and improving quality services to Veterans.  In this role, you will primarily function as a supervisory senior-level leader to work directly with the client, help the teams plan client engagements and to track the activities for multiple Product LIne Management  teams, who will be working concurrently in releases using Agile and DevOps processes, coaching and training. 


  • Perform and supervise multi-disciplinary technical and/or non-technical tasks for applicable programs.
  • Assist the Program manager with directing, defining and coordinating program issues and finding workable solutions for the client and our team.
  • Interface with customers to determine specific needs and requirements and convey that information back to the agile coaching team.
  • Develop detailed staffing requirements and work with the client to implement a pull-based system to meet customer needs.
  • Lead deliverable tracking and submission for Client
  • Work closely with the client and the teams on Roadmap planning and backlog refinement to prioritize the needs of the client.
  • Apply strong communication skills to reach and develop a cross organization network to help to gather requested data
  • Assess impacts of new info against planned and baseline dates, identify risks, issues, and opportunities and work with the client and teams to negotiate scope or timeline
  • Mentor and train new team members in the use of schedule tools/processes and the implementation of quality standards
  • Provide additional program-level support, as needed


Required Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in in organizing, directing, and managing the day to day onsite operations, support, and maintenance functions of a program, preferably with experience in an agile environment
  • Experience with Agile Methodology and Scrum processes
  • Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion
  • Effective leadership and analytical skills
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be a US citizen or authorized to work in the US
  • Agile and/or SAFe certificatio


 Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Experience working with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Office management curriculum or equivalent
