Overview

GovernmentCIO is looking for an analytical, results-driven professional to join our team as a Data Modeler (DHS ICE Focused) providing data leadership to a team building government services and systems with a focus on user-centered design and agile delivery processes. As a Data Modeler, you will apply ICE Systems Data and  Data Standards  to integrate in to agile development processes  to build and enhance existing government solutions.

Responsibilities

Acts as a subject matter expert on data and data modeling, the candidate will define and model (Conceptual, Logical, and Physical) DHS ICE specific system’s data, focused on definition, identification, collection, and modeling new data, exploring and mining data from many internal and external sources , and determining value to new develop.

  • Confers with clients, technical staff, and team members to plan, design, develop, implement, and enhance applications, scripts, procedures, and metadata for relational databases.
  • Support data movement, data hierarchy and data planning across 3 development teams
  • Provide support in planning and developing a data management and governance capability, and shall support existing and emerging data governance structures while serving a critical role of facilitation of data stewardship
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot production application issues.
  • Promote and drive innovation in technologies, processes, and tools with an ICE data system focus.
  • Work with Product Owners and Scrum Teams in requirements decomposition, backlog refinement, and breakdown of user stories and tasks.
  • Interaction with stakeholders in support of the Product Owner.
  • Interface with internal and Government management personnel.
  • Serve as a member of, or provide Subject Matter Expertise to, product teams or other organizational structures for the purpose of providing insight to data analysis process

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience in an agile environment using Scrum and Kanban
  • Experience supporting development or data contracts at DHS Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)
  • 2 years’ experience with Non-Relational and Relational databases
  • Must be able to design, discuss, and document system strategies for platform, applications, and networks
  • Proficient with Jira and GitHub
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, Science, and related fields.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

 

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in ServiceNow and the Now Platform – App Dev Engine and/or Integration Hub
  • Experience with APIs and interface development with legacy systems
  • Working knowledge of AWS, Infrastructure as Code, and DevSecOps
  • Experience supporting public-facing web applications with a large userbase.
  • Hands-on with ITIL Process implementation
