Overview

GovernmentCIO is looking for a Business Analyst to support the Department of Veterans Affairs Health Portfolio’s Pharmacy Products within the Clinical Ancillary Product Line. Qualified candidates must have experience with Pharmacy IT systems, particularly in a government setting. The successful candidate will support full life-cycle management of requirements and specifications, including developing system specifications from the provided business requirements, as well as tracking those requirements throughout the design, development, testing, and implementation phases. The role will be responsible for supporting multiple project-level initiatives as well as maintenance of the backlog for the entire Pharmacy sub-Product Line.

 

Location: This is a remote working opportunity. This individual is expected to have a proven track record of working remotely with minimal direction.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, review, and document the requirements of a project throughout the lifecycle
  • Perform gap analysis and recommend solutions
  • Understanding the client’s business issues and challenges
  • Translates users' business need into detailed epics, user stories, and requirements
  • Complete functional analysis of requirements as needed
  • Conduct research, analyze information needs, and perform analysis to support the delivery of relevant artifacts including business process diagrams, reports, and presentations
  • Review and analysis of trouble tickets to assess whether any scenario listed describes new requirements to be added to the backlog rather than defects
  • Create and present functional and technical requirements to business and IT teams and write user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Discover functional dependencies and help make recommendations on system/business solutions to mitigate risk
  • Able to function as subject matter expert in order to collect complete and accurate business requirements from business SMEs by means of interviews, workflow analyses and facilitated discussions
  • Work as a team player and leader in order to effectively coordinate across functional teams

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems, Business or related scientific/technical discipline and 10 years of experience, particularly in information technology project management (8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education).
  • Current VA network access is highly desired.
  • Certification in Business Analysis desired but not required.
  • Prior experience supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) or other Government agency.
  • Familiarity with Agile/SAFe methodology.
  • Experience with VistA and/or CPRS preferred.
  • Experience with multiple pharmacy technology applications.
  • Strong organization, time management, and prioritization skills with proven ability to balance competing tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Powerful problem solving, applied reasoning, and analytical skills; experience translating analysis into clear recommendations and concrete action steps for diverse audiences.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including reports and presentations.
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic, collaborative, and results-driven environment with minimal guidance and supervision.
  • Means to build and manage client and professional relationships at all levels.
  • Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
  • Legal authorization to work in the US.
