GovernmentCIO is currently looking for a Communications SME to join our team supporting Veterans Affairs. This person shall serve in a dedicated role within VA EPMD OIT Health focused on efforts related to the EHRM & VistA. Additionally, he/she shall be responsible for developing and overseeing the Communications Planning and Execution. Content includes plans, newsletters, status reporting, dashboards, executive memorandums, as well congressional and presidential data calls. Working within the current Governance Framework, work includes managing communications regarding planning, coordinating, assessing, evaluating, and monitoring products in transition, production and sustainment.




  • Develop and lead Communications framework acceptance and implementation
  • Build and maintain communication templates and documents
  • Coordinate and build relationships with external stakeholders (OEHRM, TIO, DHA, ITOPS, etc.)
  • Provide guidance and influence project outcomes to align with overall EHRM & VistA Transition strategy and goals
  • Support removing impediments to achieve EHRM & VistA Office milestones
  • Utilize key software and Agile techniques including: SharePoint, Jira, MS Teams, VISIO, Adobe, etc.
  • Communicate and escalate key integration risks to relevant executive teams
  • Collaborate with managers across the VA related to existing products in the software sustainment environment and the HER Modernization realm focusing on Site Releases.
  • Contribute communication material for the full scale launch in support of a new and major initiative.




Dedicated Communications SME will have 15+ years of experience managing and delivering communications strategies and materials supporting governance, project, program, and portfolio management.

  • Federal/VA contracting policies, planning, and management
  • Familiarity with capital planning, budget, and cost formulation
  • IT engineering/architectural knowledge of software and infrastructure
