GovernmentCIO is seeking an SQA Tester to support a Health PMO portfolio with the Department of Veterans Affairs. Under Test Lead direction, the EHRM/VistA Transition team needs self-starters with VistA and Health IT and Functional experience to execute the test planning, assessment, development, and execution tasks associated with VistA and Cerner releases for readiness of regional site deployments.




  • Investigate and delivery tasks as established with the EHRM/VistA Transition Change Management and Test Plans
  • Use CM & Test Tools for Change, Configuration, Requirements and Test Case management
  • Execute test procedures, test cases (front-end, back-end and integration as needed), test plans, following and contributing to requirements traceability, schedules, and test reports
  • Coordinate, execute, document, and report on test activities required to support the VistA releases
  • Act as point of contact with VistA Stakeholders for SQA and User Acceptance testing
  • Coordinate, execute, document, and report on test activities required to support the integration of functionality with consuming applications
  • Coordinate test preparation activities to include setting up the SQA test environment and data
  • Review and approve test cases, function/technical requirements plans and test scripts
  • Work with development teams and Project Managers to resolve test defects
  • Verify readiness of release through release review process
  • Estimate level of effort based upon tasks and responsibilities specific to tester functions



Required Skills and Experience:

  • 10+ years total IT experience
  • 1-2+ years of work at the VA supporting VistA
  • 5+ years of experience planning, implementing, and executing software testing processes; have experience with various Automation and Testing software and building test scripts, and have a clear understanding across functional and regression testing


Desired Skills: The candidate should be proficient in MS Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as Information Technology Testing tools. Proficiency in MS Visio and IBM Rational tool is desired. The candidate must also possess good communication, analytical, and writing skills. A proven ability to work in a team-oriented environment is also desired. Experience with running test cases associated with VistA, Cerner, or other Health platforms, applications and software.


Education and Certification: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Management Information System, Systems Engineering.
