    GovernmentCIO Media is seeking candidates for a managing editor interested in leading our editorial team covering the topics and leaders transforming government technology. GovernmentCIO Media covers a wide array of technology and innovation topics on multiple digital platforms including our website, video interviews, podcasts, live events and infographics. The position requires an individual comfortable working in a startup environment motivated to work with a growing, energetic team.


    • Planning and prioritizing daily media coverage
    • Leading the growth of GovernmentCIO Media’s audience through multiple editorial products
    • Editing and posting news stories from staff reporters
    • Representing GovernmentCIO Media at events and meetings
    • Assisting in producing special reports.
    • Managing multiple social media handles
    • Editing articles from thought leaders and external contributors


    Key Requirements:

    • Minimum 6 Years working experience
    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • Experience in a newsroom
    • Ability to work alongside team members or individually



    • 5+ years of professional journalistic experience as an editor and/or writer
    • Ability to direct the day-to-day work of a team of reporters in a collaborative work environment and to shift between short-term needs and long-term projects
    • Strong editing, writing and analytical skills and high attention to detail
    • Excellent time and project management skills
    • Experience working with online content management systems
    • Experience moderating panels and hosting events.
    • Experience working with marketing and business development teams

    Preferred Experience:

    • Writing/editing in the technology space
    • Knowledge and expereince with/in federal publicaitions.
