    GovernmentCIO is seeking candidates for a Web Designer position that have an understanding of web-based technologies, web-to database integration, and dynamic content generation. This person must have current hands-on experience designing, coding, and building web sites and pages. This person will work with the government GTM or his representative to gather requirements for web site design. The web site or enhancement to the website will accurately meet the stated requirements, reflect the customer's needs, be free of errors and fulfill basic principles and best practices of website design.

     

    The OIG Portal is a component-wide SharePoint based intranet. It provides employees a place to improve productivity & collaboration, manage organization knowledge and content, improve internal communication and automate business processes. The portal architecture is based on OIG divisional structures that provide secure areas for division teams to work together and share files and documents, as well as customer facing structures that all users across the agency can access.

    Responsibilities

    • Development of the Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML)
    • Transmission of HTML and Portable Document Format (PDF) files to the Department's Staging Server for posting
    • Maintenance of links and removal of dead links
    • Maintenance of the "What's New” section and removal of outdated materials
    • Attendance at Departmental Web Content Managers Meetings if requested
    • Keeping abreast of applicable web guidance issued by the Department, federal government, or other industry bodies
    • Development and site administration using Drupal website application software. Section 508 (29 US Code 794d) of the Rehabilitation Act or its successor
    • Renovation of the OIG's web site to comply with OMB's Policies for Federal Public Websites issued December 17, 2004, or its successor
    • Periodic preparation of a list of files that do not comply with Section 508 (applies to anything posted since the enforcement date of June 21, 2001)
    • Evaluation of the OIG's web site and development of recommendations for Enhancements and design changes
    • Evaluation and identification of better web preparation tools and graphics software
    • Implementation of agreed-upon enhancements to the OIG web site
    • Recommendation and development of a methodology to facilitate the document preparation and posting process
    • Publicly announcing the release of new reports available on the OIG’s Internet site using notification services and social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook, and Govdelivery.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM TANGIBLE QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    At least 5 Years of experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business or a scientific or technical discipline related to a specific field, as well as additional applicable certifications related to the position.

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    • Drupal Website Operating System(s) experience
    • Applied knowledge of Section 508 accessibility requirements
    • Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) coding
    • Knowledge of state-of-the-art developments in Internet technologies and in the information technology security issues which affect web design
    • Exceptional communication skills
