    GCIO is seeking a Web Software Developer that has extensive experience in developing web-based applications including online customer service for agency components to be able to deliver their services online. Provide support in developing the site concept, interface design, and architecture of the web-site. Provide support for the implementation of interfaces to applications.

    Responsibilities

    The Web Software Developer will be required to develop within the standards that meet the web development requirements of the COPS Office. In meeting the COPS Office requirements, the Web Software Developer shall provide cutting edge graphic design and next generation web development knowledge to develop, enhance, and maintain web media, web applications, and the current front facing COPS Office website (and any future iteration thereof). This task will also support the COPS Office 508 Accessibility efforts.

     

    The Web Software Developer must provide application development and support to include (but is not limited to):

    • Design, development, and maintenance of web applications using current web technologies,
    • Revamping, redesigning and reengineering the COPS Office website (www.cops.usdoj.gov)
    • Support current and future connections to other DOJ component-based applications;
    • Software development project management using an agile development methodology (i.e. Scrum, eXtreme, Lean, etc.)
    • All existing and new applications must have the capability to proactively report application degradation, system outages, security violation or other possible issues that may affect the availability or integrity of the application and/or data.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM TANGIBLE QUALIFICATIONS:

    • At least 10 Years of experience and an Advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business or a scientific or technical discipline related to a specific field, as well as additional applicable certifications related to the position

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Working knowledge and experience coding in Java is required.
    • Knowledge and Experience with
          • Working Active Server Pages (ASP)
          • JavaScript
          • SQL Server
          • Visual Basic
          • JavaScript
          • MS Access
          • HTML
          • DBMS's (ex. - Oracle, Sybase, etc.)
          • Drupal, PHP, and other standard web language for external and internally facing applications
