  • Overview

    GCIO is seeking a highly qualified Enterprise Architect that will be responsible for the following:

    Establishes system information requirements using analysis of the information engineer(s) in the development of enterprise-wide or large-scale information systems. Designs architecture to include the software, hardware, and communications to support the total requirements as well as provide for present and future cross-functional requirements and interfaces. As appropriate, ensures these systems are compatible and in compliance with the standards for open systems architectures, the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) and International Standards Organization (ISO) reference models, and profiles of standards - such as Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Open Systems Environment (OSE) reference model - as they apply to the implementation and specification of Information Management (IM) solution of the application platform, across the application program interface (API), and the external environment/software application. Evaluates analytically and systematically problems of work flows, organization, and planning and develops appropriate corrective action. Provides daily supervision and direction to staff.

    Responsibilities

    The Enterprise Architect will be responsible for designing appropriate IT practices, maintaining standards, leading major programs and strategic initiatives, and providing technical expertise to support business requirements. The Enterprise Architect will assist federal IT staff, application project teams, infrastructure/operations staff, Justice Management Division (JMD) staff, and outsourced partners and vendors in the implementation of critical business solutions. The Enterprise Architect will exercise leadership and innovation in the resolution of current technical/infrastructural challenges as well as the creation of long-term technical roadmaps which will lead to the future success of the COPS Office.

    • The Enterprise Architect will provide assistance and oversight the following activities:
      • Application architectural design
      • System and support infrastructure architecture documentation including design
      • Defining operational procedures
      • Development of operational and application security to assist the COPS Office compliance with DOJ Federal Information Systems Management Act (FISMA) using approved reporting mechanisms and tools
      • Research and implementation of cost-effective platform technologies
      • Identification and pilot of critical emerging infrastructure technology to enhance delivery of new software application releases.
      • Investigation of effective application server platforms required by the identified business processes;
      • Investigation of effective application server platforms required by the identified business processes.
      • Development of technology platform strategies and standard operating procedures to meet capability and capacity requirements for business operation and growth through benchmarking and adoption of best practices.
      • Analyzation, recommendation, and support of virtual platform technologies and translate conceptual application design into cost-effective infrastructure solutions.
      • Promotion of new cost-effective requirements to support infrastructure technology platform initiatives and service consolidation efforts.
      • Management of infrastructure technology environment to agreed standards.
      • Offering technical, operational, and innovative expertise.
      • Evaluation of and assistance with Certification and Accreditation (C&A) requirements for complex or non-standard configurations proposed by software application project teams.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM TANGIBLE QUALIFICATIONS:

    • At least 7 Years of experience and an Advanced degree preferred in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business or a scientific or technical discipline related to a specific field, as well as additional applicable certifications related to the position.
