  • Overview

    GCIO is seeking a candidate for the position of Hardware Installer to support the Department of Veterans Affairs Enterprise Services. The Hardware Installer will serve as a part of a team managing Continuous Diagnostic Mitigation (CDM) Hardware Asset Deployment for the infrastructure group. The position requires travel (as approved by the Government) to various sites where you will supervise/assist as needed in the deployment of the hardware and software for the program.


    This role includes up to 90% travel to client sites for the first six months. After the initial six months, the role will move to a 90% remote position.


    The Hardware Installer will:

    • Primary Duty – Plan and coordinate the activities associated with CDM Hardware Deployment on site. Direct and assist as needed on-site during installations. Support the Program Manager in all aspects of the Program.
    • Support the operations, sustainment, equipment custodian responsibilities for GFE, and systems administration of government furnished scanning systems at VA Enterprise and Regional Data Centers
    • Review reports, scans and other artifacts to assess the effectiveness of the total system security and make mitigation recommendations to Government based on these reviews
    • Assist the VA Program Manager on Authorization to Operate (ATO) and Production Operations Manuals (POM) documentation and certification.


    Education Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, computer science, systems, business, or related scientific/technical discipline(8 years of experience can be substituted for degree)
    Years of Experienced Required: Minimum of 5 years of experience in information technology

    Gigamon: GVS-HC2A1, GVS-HC101, SMT-HC0-X16

    ForeScout: FS-HW-CT10000F2, FS-HW-CT4000F2, FS-HW-CT2000F2


    This role includes up to 90% travel to client sites.


    Additional Qualifications:

    • Excellent understanding and track record of implementing project management concepts, methodologies, and associated tools
    • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and influencing skills; ability to facilitate discussions around complex issues and bring them to resolution
    • Experience using SharePoint, and other collaboration or automation tools
    • Should have the ability to facilitate requirements gathering and be able to communicate risk mitigation strategies, and track remediation.
    • Understanding of Industry Best Practices working knowledge (i.e., NIST, ISO, CoBIT, OWASP, ITIL).
    • Must possess technical writing abilities
    • Experience in assigning and managing individual work queues and providing written and verbal communications with individuals, broader technical teams and vendors.
    • Ability to obtain Public Trust Security Clearance
    • Familiar with boundary devices (SCOM, SolarWinds, Others)
    • Familiar with OSPF, BGP, and VPN
    • Familiarity with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication (SP) 800-53, Revision 4, Security and Privacy Controls for Federal Information Systems and Organizations. 
    • Must have experience managing information technology related projects.
    • Must have experience tracking scope, schedule, and cost
    • Desirable: Familiarity with VA 6500, RiskVision and the VA ATO Process
