    GovernmentCIO is seeking an Systems Architect for the Enterprise Services contract with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) who will work collaboratively with stakeholders to serve as an infrastructure technical expert to liaison with other teams as appropriate in support of the VA. 

    Responsibilities

    The System Architect must have extensive experience in the coordination of program and project leaders to identify requirements for system architecture. The candidate should have extensive experience in taking program requirements and can create an architecture vision to support high volume and high availability network systems.  The successful candidate will collaborate with a number of stakeholders to ensure a high standard of technical excellence is maintained across all project activities and make recommendations for the most effective application of technology to meet the customer’s needs.

     

    The successful candidate will be a proactive, forward-leaning self-starter, able to work in a fast-paced organization spread across diverse technical areas using Agile/Lean software development methodologies. The successful candidate will bring a strong technical background with demonstrated technical aptitude in order to quickly understand new programming languages and technical concepts to communicate effectively to non-technical people via discussions, brown bag sessions, white papers, and visual diagrams.

     

    The Architect will work with various other architects, Project and Program Managers, and Executive Leadership.  The candidate will able to engage with the customer and develop a high-level operational architecture and system architecture that meets enterprise needs. The successful candidate should have experience in championing, establishing, and enforcing industry standards and best practices. 


    Someone with a passion for working in a customer support role, has attention to detail, able to multi-task, and can work with multiple project leads to understand and communicate program information will thrive in this environment. The ideal candidate has experience with cloud-based computing.  Experience at the Department of Veterans Affairs or in another scientific or regulatory environment is preferred.

     

    Qualifications

    • Strong communication skills, problem-solving, and leadership skills
    • Experience with enterprise Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) solutions
    • Expertise in XaaS technologies
    • Experience with Middleware technologies such as WebLogic, WebSphere, Tuxedo, or Anypoint.
    • Expertise in architecting, designing, implementing, and sustaining RESTful APIs
    • Expertise architecting Virtualization solutions using VMs and Containers
    • Experience using Kubernetes to manage containerized applications
    • Experience architecting or configuring Multi-Factor Authorization systems
    • Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, math, or IT related field, or equivalent experience (10 years experience can be substituted for Master’s Degree)
    • 15+ years of experience
    • Relevant technical courses of study and certifications, for example:
    • Database Management (DBA, SQL, MongoDB, Oracle DBA or similar database certification)
    • API/ESB
    • MCSA - Microsoft Certified Solution Developer, Clouderra CCDH, Oracle OCP/OCM/OCE
    • Data Analytics - Hadoop, CAP, SAP
