The Department of Veteran Affairs Privacy Service works to achieve the mission of the Department while minimizing the impact on individual privacy. A Privacy Threshold Analysis (PTA) and a Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) is used to identify and assess the risks and ramifications of using information technology in collecting, maintaining, and disseminating personal information from the public in identifiable form. This promotes greater protection of relevant Information Technology (IT) systems. The VA privacy compliance program is a critical part of the Privacy Service’s ability to integrate privacy into the IT environment of VA, which was developed after critical analysis of widely accepted industry best practices.
Will be responsible for providing support in response to privacy compliance audits, including identifying vulnerabilities and estimating the associated risk posed to an organization and its mission.
Preferred experiance with code review, sercurity/ vulnerability scanning, assessments, and penetration testing.
Preferred knowledge of and experience with privacy laws and regulations applicable to federal systems and with PII reduction/elimination initiatives
Advanced Degree (Masters or Juris Doctor) in computer science, programming, engineering, or a related scientific or technical discipline is required. 10 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education
